Are You Playing Too Small?

If you aren’t familiar with Marianne Williamson I highly recommend you pick up one of her books. Might I suggest my favorite? The Law of Divine Compensation is the book that changed my whole outlook on creating wealth and opened my mind to the idea that I could be at peace with being financially free.

When I was younger I felt like I was meant for something great and when I met my husband I knew without a shadow of a doubt that he was meant for something great. Together I knew we could accomplish so much. First, we had to be put through the refiner’s fire though! (More on that some other time.) What I want to share in this post is that one of the trials I experienced was self-induced. It may seem silly to some but I know for a lot of people, it will hit home for them as well. My big stumbling block? MONEY! I worried about what people would think of me if I had a big house or drive an expensive car. I didn’t want people to look at me and think that I thought I was better than them…so I chose to play small. I let my fear of what others would think hold me back. I didn’t want it to ruin my friendships, my relationship with my family, or anyone else that would come into my life.

One of the first times that I ever considered the idea that I could impact the world for good by playing big was when I attended an event and the keynote speaker said “We want you to be successful!”. For some reason at that moment it hit home. I realized on a small scale that there were people in this world that would be thrilled if I was successful. Her words started changing my way of thinking about my success in life and the impact that it could make on the lives of so many others.

Several months after this encounter with Danielle I was gifted The Law of Divine Compensation by a dear friend. I couldn’t put it down and at the same time it was like every sentence was something I needed to let savor because it spoke to my soul. There are so many nuggets of wisdom in that book! Basically what I got out of reading it though was that if I chose to be successful then I could help so many others create success in their lives. When I chose to be successful and so many others chose success as well, then what positive changes could we make in the world? How many lives could we impact for good? It would be a ripple effect!

That’s one of the biggest reasons why I chose success – so I could help others be successful. I heard a friend once say that she felt like people wouldn’t listen to her message until she had the bank account to back it up. It is sad but true that in this day and age money gets people’s attention. I have experienced that already and I haven’t even skimmed what is truly available for those who believe they can be successful. Abundance can be such a blessing. It can inspire others, it can bless others, it can be a game changer! I’m so ready to be the person that can help uplift and inspire others to play big!
